The Railway has a number of books and other items for sale - these can be purchased at our shop at Keith Town station AB55 5BR (when open). Keith Town station shop now has new items for sale. These include confectionery, Thomas the Tank Engine items, pens, mouse mats, mugs and photographs of the Keith & Dufftown Railway, Great North of Scotland Railway Company enamel badges and DVDs of diesels in action. A range of postcards featuring scenes from the Keith and Dufftown Railway are also now available either individually or in sets of 16 See below for further details.





Keith Town station shop has a range of pre owned model railway and related items in various gauges / scales for sale. As the range constantly changes it is best to visit the shop to see the current stock.

Class 140 – R. I. Smith

A highly informative, A5 booklet covering the life of a unique prototype rail vehicle. It gives a brief, illustrated history of the vehicle along with technical specification and layout drawing. This DMU is historically important as the precursor of the Pacers, Sprinters and Super Sprinters operating on our railways today. It was tested in the North of Scotland in early ‘80s and is now awaiting preservation at Dufftown station on the KDR.

The Railways Of The Banff And Moray Coast - G.R.Maxtone

An excellent photographic album covering the former GNSR coastal routes from Elgin to Cairnie Junction and including the Lossiemouth and Banff branches. There are over 84 pages of B&W and colour photos, mostly taken after nationalisation. Of special interest are the signal box diagrams accompanying the pictures and giving the layouts and signal positions. This book will bring back many nostalgic memories to those who travelled on the line. It will also be a great boon to railway modellers covering this area.

A fascinating record of railway operations in the Speyside area in steam and early diesel days. It covers what it was like to work on the railway, driving the locomotives, operations around Keith and, of course, the all important transportation of whisky.
